Dear DocXXX,
My friend claims that you can tell whether a woman is a virgin just by looking at her nipples. They say that the size and color of the nipples are always a dead giveaway. Is this true, and if so, what should I be looking for?

Dear Breast Man,
You should be looking for friends who don't tell you wild stories like this! No, honestly, this seems to be some sort of urban legend that's been making the rounds, because I've gotten a few similar questions lately. Where the notion comes from, I have no idea.
That's because there is absolutely no way that you can tell whether a woman -- or a man, I might add -- has had sex by the size, shape or color of her/his nipples. The myth may stem from the fact that women who have been pregnant sometimes do have larger, darker nipples, but this clearly has nothing to do with simply having sex. Everyone who has sex doesn't get pregnant, after all!
There have always been variations on this theme floating around out there. I've heard that you can tell whether a woman has had sex by looking at everything from her eye color to the way she holds a water glass. None of them are the slightest bit factual. The only way to tell whether or not someone has had sex is to ask them -- and even then they might not tell you the whole truth!
My advice is to give up on this futile pursuit. What does it really matter, anyway? Are you really going to date or not date someone based on your perceptions of her virginity? I certainly hope not. And by the way, you might want to tell your buddies that they've been had, as well if they believe this tall tale. We should try and 'nip' this one in the bud, so to speak!
